Best Smart Garage Door Openers in 2025

Smart garage door openers have transformed how Los Angeles homeowners manage access to their homes. The best 2025 models offer smartphone control, real-time alerts, voice assistant integration, and battery backup. Here are our top picks after installing hundreds of openers across Greater LA.

LiftMaster 87504-267 (Our Top Pick)

This belt-drive unit is the gold standard for residential smart openers. It features built-in Wi-Fi, a camera with two-way audio, motion-activated lighting, and works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit. Battery backup keeps it running during LA's occasional power outages. Quieter than chain-drive models — ideal for garages attached to living spaces.

Chamberlain B4643T

Chamberlain and LiftMaster share the same parent company and the MyQ platform, but the B4643T comes at a lower price point while still offering Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone alerts, and compatibility with all major smart home platforms. Excellent choice for mid-range budgets.

Genie SilentMax Connect 7155-TKV

Genie's top belt-drive unit is whisper-quiet and includes built-in Wi-Fi and Aladdin Connect compatibility. It's our top recommendation for multi-unit dwellings or garages adjacent to bedrooms. Solid reliability record in our installations across Greater LA.

What to Look For When Buying

Prioritize: Wi-Fi built-in (not adapter-dependent), battery backup for power outages, compatibility with your preferred smart home platform (Google, Alexa, or Apple), belt drive over chain drive for quieter operation, and a battery size appropriate for your door's weight.

Professional Installation Matters

Even the best smart opener performs poorly if installed incorrectly. Improper spring tension, misaligned tracks, and incorrect force settings can damage the opener prematurely. NexDoor Services installs and programs all major smart opener brands across Greater Los Angeles — including full smart home integration.
